Training on occupational health begins at BHEL

A week-long training programme on ‘occupational health', tailor-made for senior-level doctors of Coal India Ltd., by the National Model Centre for Occupational Health Services (OHS), BHEL, begin here on Monday.

P.Nainar, General Manager-Human Resource, BHEL, inaugurated the programme. Speaking on the occasion Mr.Nainar said that BHEL, being a navratna company, had been laying emphasis on the healthcare of its workforce since its inception. The OHS had been conducting medical check-up for its workforce periodically.

He lauded the efforts of OHS in curbing the health-related issues of factory workers while, at the same time, rendering consultancy services to other organisations. Mr.Nainar invited the doctors from different coalfields to experience the centre of excellence in Occupational Health which had been established and nurtured by BHEL in Tiruchi.

A total of eighteen doctors, posted at different units of Coal India Ltd, would undergo residential training.

G.Mohan, Senior Deputy General Manager, OHS, explained that the training programme was meant for doctors to equip and update themselves with the knowledge in occupational health.K. Ramlingeshwar Rao, Medical Superintendent and A.K.Ganguli, Senior Deputy General Manager, OHS, spoke.
