BHEL staff fume over move to sell excess land to govt

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited's proposal to hand over its acres of extra land in the city to the state government, has not gone down well with the employees of the industrial area. BHEL bags order to set up power plant in Madhya Pradesh

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged an order for setting up a 50 MW Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) Power Plant in Madhya Pradesh on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis. Valued at Rs.282 crore, the order for setting up the Solar Power Plant at Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh, has been placed on BHEL Corporation by NTPC Limited. The project is scheduled for completion in twelve months, according to a BHEL press release. Earlier in the year, BHEL Corporation had bagged another EPC order from NTPC under domestic competitive bidding for setting up a 50 MW Solar Power Plant at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, which is currently under execution. BHEL Corporation manufactures solar cells and modules at its Electronics Division unit in Bengaluru, while space-grade solar panels using high efficiency cells and space-grade Battery panels are manufactured at its Electronic Systems Division, also in Bengaluru. BHEL to get own reservoirs

Bhopal: EL is set to build new reservoirs to get rid of it's water crisis during summer. The area gets 5.5 MGD (million gallon per day) water from Upper Lake for about 1.25 lakh population. Once operational, the reservoirs will help BHEL save 4 MGD water. A 1.6 million gallon reservoir will be constructed at 6 MGD water filter plant in front of new Vidhan Sabha building. Another two reservoirs with the capacity of 0.25 million has already been constructed for the workshop and the testing for the same has already been started. There are two old reservoirs with a capacity of 3MGD each which fail to meet the deamand during peak summer. "There are also problems like failure of motors and power break-ups," said Mahesh Kumar, a BHEL resident. Currently, BHEL gets water supply at the rate of Rs 7 per thousand litre from Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC). However, the demand the civic body demanded Rs 14 per thousand litres from BHEL. BHEL bags Rs 282-crore order from NTPC for 50MW solar plant in MP

Govt asks BHEL to take initiatives for power sector

Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Minister Anant Geete asked Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) to step up its activities in diversification areas like solar and transportation, in a big way to address the slowdown in power sector. The minister reviewed the performance and the future readiness of the company. "While BHEL is gearing up for the future to face the upcoming challenges, he advised the company to step up its activities in diversification areas like solar and transportation, in a big way to address the slowdown in power sector," the company said in a statement. The minister was briefed about the performance trends of the company, initiatives taken for enhancing competitiveness and building R&D capabilities, it said. BHEL develops IPMS for INS Vikrant

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) today said it has successfully developed and delivered the Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) for indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. Developed by the companys Electronics System Division, it includes state-of-the-art Automatic Power Management System, BHEL said in a press release. It said various directorates of Indian Navy and Cochin Shipyard participated in the final Integrated Factory Acceptance Test (IFAT) protocol. INS Vikrant was built by Cochin Shipyard Limited for the Indian Navy. Designed, manufactured and tested at BHEL Bengaluru jointly with GE-Avio (Italy), IPMS is unique, technology intensive and sophisticated. BHEL said apart from executing this prestigious order received against stiff competition, it had in the recent past supplied Auxiliary Control System for P15A Destroyers INS Kolkata and INS Kochi, which are already in service and to INS Chennai, scheduled to be commissioned in 2016. It said the company has demonstrated capability for warship controls and also geared-up to take up other assignments in marine and defence applications, including defence simulators. Bhel commissions thermal power unit in Maharashtra

Bhel today said it has commissioned its 5th 500 MW unit at Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) in Maharashtra. "With this, 9 coal-based sets aggregating to 3,340 MW, all supplied and commissioned by Bhel, are now operational at Chandrapur STPP of Maharashtra State Power Generation Co.
