BHEL to get own reservoirs

Bhopal: EL is set to build new reservoirs to get rid of it's water crisis during summer. The area gets 5.5 MGD (million gallon per day) water from Upper Lake for about 1.25 lakh population. Once operational, the reservoirs will help BHEL save 4 MGD water. A 1.6 million gallon reservoir will be constructed at 6 MGD water filter plant in front of new Vidhan Sabha building. Another two reservoirs with the capacity of 0.25 million has already been constructed for the workshop and the testing for the same has already been started. There are two old reservoirs with a capacity of 3MGD each which fail to meet the deamand during peak summer. "There are also problems like failure of motors and power break-ups," said Mahesh Kumar, a BHEL resident. Currently, BHEL gets water supply at the rate of Rs 7 per thousand litre from Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC). However, the demand the civic body demanded Rs 14 per thousand litres from BHEL. The decision has also been taken to curb the expenses. ref: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/bhopal/BHEL-to-get-own-reservoirs/articleshow/51849823.cms
