BHEL team to meet NTPC chief for truck release in Bihar

President of the State Federation of Lorry Owners Associations – Tamil Nadu K. Nallathambi said here on Tuesday that a team of officials from the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) in Tiruchi and Ranipet has left for New Delhi to meet the Chairman of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to take necessary steps to release truck drivers and crew from Tamil Nadu who were being held hostage at a village in Bihar.

Mr. Nallathambi told The Hindu that nearly 120 trucks and their crew from various parts of the country, including 60 from Tamil Nadu, were being held hostage by villagers of Nabinagar in Bihar for more than 50 days.

These trucks were transporting material for establishing NTPC's power plants in that village, Mr. Nallathambi said.
