Public sector power equipment maker BHEL should prepare itself to face challenges like increasing international competition and rising indigenous demand, a top government official said today.
"BHEL is a leader in the power industry sector and it should prepare itself to face challenges in the global as well as the domestic market," Union Ministry of Heavy Industries Secretary B S Meena said.
Meena, who visited the plant along with BHEL Chairman and Managing Director B P Rao, said the state-run firm, which has achieved several milestones, will soon be able to make its own engineering products by cutting down on imports.
Meena assured full support and co-operation from the Ministry in meeting the challenges faced by the company. He said that BHEL has been a success story, but it would have to strive harder to accomplish new opportunities in a competitive market.
