Youth sets himself ablaze in front of BHEL - unfortunate !!

A youngster set himself ablaze in front of the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) administrative building today night demanding vacancies in the Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) be filled only with locals. The youngster also favoured formation of a separate Telangana in a suicide note left behind.

Pro-Telangana activists have been fighting for the filling of vacancies in the PSU locals only since the past few days.

The 25-year-old youth, S Laxmaiah, hails from Hathi Bee village in Zaheerabad mandal of Medak district. Laxmaiah has been working as a contract labour in a private industry at Patancheru industrial development area.

Laxmaiah has been actively participating in the ongoing struggle by Telangana activists demanding that the vacancies in the BHEL be filled with locals only.

Police recovered a suicide note purportedly written by Laxmaiah in which he stated that he committed suicide for separate Telangana.

“Vacancies in BHEL should be filled with locals only. Separate state of Telangana should be created,'' Laxmaiah wrote in the note, Ramachandrapuram police said. The condition of Laxmaiah, who was shifted to the Gandhi general hospital, is critical.

It may be recalled that pro-Telangana activists have also attacked two persons from Andhra region a few days back for writing the selection test conducted by the BHEL.
