BHEL director (finance) CS Verma is set to become the next chairman of country’s largest steel company SAIL. The present SAIL chairman SK Roongta will retire in May 2010.
Mr Verma tops the preference list of the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PSEB), an arm of the ministry of personnel that recruits board-level officials in state-owned companies.
“Out of 23 candidates interviewed by the board, names of two persons were recommended for the post,” a senior PSEB official involved in the selection process said requesting anonymity. The board recommended Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD of National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) as the second choice.
