BHEL to commission steam generators at 1,500 MW plant

BHEL today said it will soon commission steam generators for the 1,500 MW gas-based power plant at Bawana for the Commonwealth Games in October this year.

"BHEL today completed the drum lifting milestone of the Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) at the 1,500 MW Pragati-III Combined Cycle Power Plant at Bawana," a company statement said.

Drum lifting is a stage before commissioning of steam generators for the power plant.

Being set up by BHEL on turnkey basis, the power plant is part of the infrastructure planned for the Commonwealth Games.

The project comprises two power blocks of 750 MW each using natural gas as fuel. This power plant will be equipped with four gas turbines and two steam turbines of 250 MW each.

For the Commonwealth Games, BHEL is also executing contracts for several other power projects including Koderma power project (2x500 MW), Mejia (2x500 MW) and Durgapur Steel project (2x500MW) of DVC, Dadri (2x490 MW) of NTPC etc.
