BHEL-NTPC JV To Begin On 1 Sept

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will formally lay the foundation stone for the BHEL-NTPC joint venture at Mannavaram in Chittoor, on 1 September.

The Prime Minister's schedule has been finalized after being postponed many times due to various reasons.

Singh will visit Tirumala on the morning of 1 September and offer special puja to the Lord, before proceeding to Mannavaram.

He would then lay the foundation stone for the BHEL-NTPC joint venture project being set up to manufacture electrical equipment.

The state government had allotted 750 acres of land at Mannavaram for the project, at a nominal price of Rs. 100 per acre, as it would provide direct employment to 6,000 besides indirect employment to over 25,000 people.
