BHEL to set up power project in Odisha

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has bagged an order valued at Rs.1,600 crore for setting up a coal-based thermal power project in Odisha in international competitive bidding. The 1 x 250 MW coal-based thermal unit will be set up at Rourkela Power Project on Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) basis. The order for the stage-III of the brownfield power project, located in Rourkela district of Odisha, has been placed on BHEL by NTPC-SAIL Power Company Private Limited (NSPCL), a joint venture of NTPC and SAIL, according to a BHEL press release. The key equipment for the contract will be manufactured at BHEL’s Tiruchi, Haridwar, Bhopal, Ranipet, Hyderabad, Jhansi, Tirumayam and Bengaluru plants while the company's Power Sector division would be responsible for civil works, erection and commissioning of the equipment.
