BHEL's special school marks annual day

The 37th annual day of Arivalayam, the school and rehabilitation centre for special children, was celebrated here. Officials of BHEL (Trichy), which runs the centre, and district collector Jayashree Muralidharan participated in the event held on Friday. Cultural programmes were staged to mark the occasion. The school, which was started with just seven special children 36 years ago at the base of Thiruvanaikoil, has grown into a multi-faceted institution with the generous support of the PSU giant. School principal B Shakti, 52, who has been serving the institution for 27 years, told TOI that "The selfless love of the children is what keeps us going." Around 1,850 BHEL staff contribute Rs 1.60 lakh a month to the school kitty, thus making possible wholesome education to children with special needs. Unlike other students, these special children are full of innocent love, said A V George, AGM communications and public relations. ref: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/trichy/BHELs-special-school-marks-annual-day/articleshow/30486799.cms
