BHEL open to alliance with Canadian cos in atomic space

BHEL is open to collaboration with Canadian companies in the atomic space once the nuclear power generation climate is feasible in India, a top company official said today. "We are now hoping to see that once the nuclear scenario is clear in the country, there can be talk of co-operations between us and the Canadian companies," BHEL Chairman and Managing Director B P Rao told reporters here. BHEL has had association with Canadian companies in the past. "Canada is a country where technology is there, joint work with them would be beneficial to the company as well as the country, in the past we have worked with the Canadians for the transmission systems, hydro power generation etc," Rao said. Last month, India and Canada finalised the terms for their nuclear deal, paving the way for Canadian firms to export uranium to India. The deal, once implemented, is likely to provide a boost to India's plans to increase the nuclear capacity. However, the deal was agreed in 2010, but there had been differences over supervision of the use of uranium in India. more at: http://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/bhel-open-to-alliancecanadian-cosatomic-space_790527.html
