BHEL bags Rs 5,600 cr order for plant in Tamil Nadu

BHEL has bagged an order worth Rs 5,600 crore for 1,600 MW power plant from Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO). The company has bagged this major order for the coal-based power project with supercritical parameters, involving two units of India's highest rating 800 MW sets, Bhel said in a press release. "Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Selvi J Jayalalithaa, handed over the Letter of Award (LoA) for setting up of the main plant package for the 2x800 MW Uppur Supercritical Thermal Power Project (TPP) to Bhel Chairman and Managing Director Atul Sobti in Chennai," said the release. That was followed by the foundation stone laying ceremony of the project. The project is slated to be commissioned by September, 2019 and the power generated from this 1,600 MW power project will help foster growth in Tamil Nadu and provide easy access to electricity to the people of the state.
