BHEL wins contract for thermal power project

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited Corporation has bagged a contract under global competitive bidding for supply and installation of power cycle piping (PCP) package for the 3 x 660 MW Stage-I of NTPC’s Barh Super Thermal Power Project in Bihar. It has been awarded this contract worth Rs.369 crore after NTPC terminated the contract of the foreign contractor, who was originally awarded the contract in 2005 for setting up the supercritical units including PCP, according to a press release. Its scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the complete PCP package for the project. Key equipment will be supplied by BHEL’s Piping Centre at Chennai and the Valves Division at Tiruchi, while the company’s Power Sector (Eastern Region) will be responsible for the erection and commissioning of the PCP package.The two units (2 x 660 MW) of Stage-II of Barh STPP, for which the order for supply and installation of supercritical boilers and turbines was awarded to BHEL in 2008, have already been commissioned. more at: http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/Tiruchirapalli/bhel-wins-contract-for-thermal-power-project/article7293704.ece
