Bharathidasan University selects BHEL, Bengaluru, for establishing two solar plants

Bharathidasan University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bharat Heavy Electronics-EDN, Bengaluru, for setting up two solar power plants, one on the main premises and the other on Khajamalai Campus on Friday. The main campus will get a 500-kWp Ground Mounted Grid Interactive Solar PV Power Plant with all possible provisions for increasing the power generation up to 1000 kWp. About 10 acres of land had been allotted for this purpose. Similarly, two numbers of 50 kWp (each) Rooftop Grid Interactive Solar PV Power Plant would be installed on Khajamalai campus, one on the roof terrace of BUTP building and the other over the building of the IECD. A purchase order to this effect was handed over V.M. Muthukumar, Vice-Chancellor, to P. Jayaprasad and B.N. Ramesh, Deputy General Managers of BHEL-EDN at the university on Friday. The BHEL has said that the solar power plants would be ready for commissioning in the first week of January 2016.
