BHEL-Tiruchi pays Rs. 135.62 cr. towards central excise

The Commissionerate of Central Excise and Service Tax, Tiruchi, has announced that Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchi, Dalmia Cements (Bharat), Dalmiapuram, and ONGC Limited, Karaikal, were the top three central excise assessees during the financial year 2013-14. While BHEL, Tiruchi, had paid Rs.135.62 crore, Dalmia Cements (Bharat) and ONGC Limited had paid Rs.114.67 crore and Rs.101.79 crore respectively. Under the Service Tax assessees, BSNL (Cellular Mobile Services), Tiruchi, stood top with a payment of Rs.96.74 crore, and Karur Vysya Bank Limited, Karur, had paid Rs. 41.44 crore. The Karaikal Port Private Limited, Karaikal had paid Rs.19.46 crore. The top revenue paying assessees during 2013-14 fiscal would be honoured at the Central Excise Day 2015 celebrations to be organised by the Commissionerate here on February 24. This year has been declared by the Central Board of Excise and Customs as “The Year of Tax Payers Service”.
