BHEL Grid-Connected Eco-Friendly 5MW Solar Power Plant @ KPCL

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited aka BHEL recently won a turnkey contract to setup a 5MW grid-connected solar power plant from Karnataka Power Corporation Limited aka KPCL.The overall value of the project is expected to be around INR. 620 million. BHEL will setup Solar PhotoVoltaic (SPV) power plant at Belakavadi village near Mandya in Karnataka.

The contract involves design, manufacture, supply, installation and operation & maintenance of the solar power plant. With this project in their hands, BHEL is executing SPV based power projects totaling about 16MW. KPCL specifically selected the Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic (C-SI PV) technology for the solar power plant project. The technology has proven results in various parts of the world and comes with longest operational experience. The entire setup will consist of an array of thousands of photovoltaic cells made up of silicon which will absorb light energy and convert it into light energy. Inverters will convert the DC power to AC and ultimately it will be fed to the grid via transformers.
