BHEL bags Rs 7,000 cr contracts

Against International Competitive Bidding (ICB), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged four major contracts from various customers for the supply and installation of main plant equipment for thermal power projects. The projects, with a cumulative capacity of 3,250 MW, are located in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.

Cumulatively valued at around Rs 7,000 Crore, the contracts have been placed on BHEL by NTPC Ltd., NLC Tamil Nadu Power Limited (NTPL) and Mahagenco. All the orders were won by BHEL under ICB, as its offers were found techno-economically the best. The company has earlier supplied equipment to all the three utilities and with these orders, the customers have once again reposed confidence in BHEL's proven technological excellence and capability in executing projects of this magnitude.

Of these, NTPC Ltd. has placed two contracts for Steam Generator and Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) packages for the 2x500 MW Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) Stage-IV in Madhya Pradesh and the 2x500 MW Rihand STPP Stage-III in Uttar Pradesh. The orders envisage design, engineering, manufacture, supply and erection and commissioning of Steam Generators and ESPs along with Associated Auxiliaries.
