The government looks set to give two years' post-retirement extension to BP head of the company's unit at Haridwar in Uttarakhand, as his successor after interviewing over 10 candidates in June.
The heavy industries ministry had initially sent a set of proposals — giving a year's extension to BP Rao, or if it couldn't be done, then clear Chand's appointment . The ministry argued for Rao's extension, citing Chand's lack of board-level experience , even though he was eligible under government.
