Telangana to procure motors for drinking water project from BHEL

The Telangana government on Sunday decided to buy all electromechanical equipment for its ambitious Mission Bhagiratha, aimed at providing piped drinking water to each of the state’s 84 lakh households by 2018, from public-sector BHEL, an official statement said. The decision to buy motors and piping equipment from Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister K. BHEL pays 98 cr dividend in FY16

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has paid a final equity dividend of 20 per cent for the fiscal 2015-16. In value terms, the total dividend paid for fiscal 2015-16 amounts to Rs 98 crore. With this, the company has maintained its impeccable track record of rewarding investors by paying dividends uninterruptedly since 1976-77. BHEL bags 2 hydro electric plant orders worth Rs. 430 cr

State-owned power equipment maker BHEL has bagged two renovation and modernisation (R&M) orders of hydropower plants worth Rs. 430 crore, including one from NHPC. “BHEL has secured R&M contracts of hydro electric plants (HEPs). The company has won orders worth around Rs. 430 crore for R&M of 6x60 MW Balimela HEP of Odisha Hydro Power Corp Ltd (OHPC) and 3x60 MW Bairasiul HEP of National NHPC Ltd,” the company said in a statement. According to a statement, the units at both Balimela and Bairasiul have been in operation for over 35 years and the R&M of these units will result in restoration of output capacity, improvement in efficiency and reduction in auxiliary power consumption, in addition to leading to better plant availability. BHEL’s scope of work for the job orders envisages design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, dismantling, setting up, testing and commissioning of critical parts of turbines, generators, governors, controls and instrumentation, protection and balance of plant (BoP). Major equipment for these contracts will be manufactured and supplied by BHEL’s plants in Bhopal, Jhansi and Bengaluru. The normal life expectancy of an HEP is considered to be 30-35 years. In the current scenario of resource constraints, renovation and modernisation of existing HEPs is considered as the best option as this is cost-effective and requires much lesser time than setting up of greenfield projects. BHEL ASKED TO MODIFY POWER PLANTS RUNNING ON IMPORTED COAL

Union Power and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday said the government has asked Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) to find a design to modify the power plants, running on imported coal, set up in the past. "We have to find solution to change all the imported coal based power plants. I am telling BHEL to find a design to modify the imported coal based power plants that were set up in the past," he said, noting that there was perpetual shortage of coal in the past. "The country and the Planning Commission, instead of finding a solution to the shortage and increase the domestic coal production, did design plants based on imported coal.The country gave business to foreign countries to sell coal to India," he said at the sidelines of the 115 th annual general meeting of MCC Chamber of Commerce. BHEL units get safety awards

Three units of BHEL, Tiruchi, have bagged National Safety Awards and 12 of its employees have won Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskars for 2014. The awards were presented by Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya at a function held in New Delhi recently. Atul Sobti, Chairman and Managing Director, BHEL, Subrata Biswas, Director, Engineering, Research and Development, BHEL, and R. Rajamanohar, General Manager (in charge), BHEL-Tiruchi complex, received the safety awards. The Energy Systems Group (ESG) complex of Tiruchi BHEL has been adjudged winner for the longest accident-free period and lowest average frequency rate in the 0.1 to 0.25 million manhours category and the Welding Research Institute (WRI) has been adjudged runner-up for longest accident-free period in the same category. The Seamless Steel Tube Plant (SSTP) has won the award for the lowest average frequency rate in the over one million manhours category, according to a BHEL press release. Besides, a team of employees comprising Magu Manchala Yaragorla, Artisan III; T. Vijayakumar, Artisan III; E.Vinoth Kumar, Artisan II; and T.Guna Sekaran, Artisan II of Unit II of High Pressure Boiler Plant, were jointly awarded Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar Class-A Award. M.Balamurugan, Artisan II; B. Akbar Ali, Artisan II; M. Eswaran, Artisan II; and A. Gangeswaran, Artisan II of Valves Production were jointly awarded Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar Class B Award. V. Ramachandran, Artisan III of Welding Research Institute have jointly bagged Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar Class-C Award. Bhel gains after winning contract from NHPC

Bharat Heavy Electricals rose 0.34% to Rs 148 at 10:20 IST on BSE after NHPC awarded a contract worth Rs 132.74 crore to the company. The announcement was made by NHPC after market hours on Monday, 12 September 2016. Stock market remained closed yesterday, 13 September 2016 on account of holiday. Shares of NHPC rose 2.15% to Rs 26.15. Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 34.65 points or 0.12% at 28,311.15. On BSE, so far 2.05 lakh shares were traded in the Bharat Heavy Electricals' counter as against average daily volume of 9.98 lakh shares in the past one quarter. The stock hit a high of Rs 149.40 and a low of Rs 147.55 so far during the day.
