Bhopal is best BHEL unit

In a programme held at New Delhi, Atul Sobti, Chairman and Managing Director, BHEL the other day declared BHEL, Bhopal as the best “Productive unit of the year” across the corporation, honouring Bhopal unit with the CMD Rolling Trophy. On this occasion AMV Yugandhar, Executive Director BHEL, Bhopal received the trophy from the CMD. Bhopal unit’s job execution and productivity received appreciation from all quarters and all Unit Heads, Board of Directors as well as the CMD congratulated Yugandhar for Bhopal unit’s success under his leadership. The CMD Rolling Trophy is awarded every year to the best productive unit across the corporation. Yugandhar said that the honour was an appreciation of the hard work and honesty of all the employees of the Bhopal unit. The industrial relation and the unity of the employees in Bhopal unit is a role model for the industrial world. BHEL commissions 40 MW hydro project in West Bengal

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has commissioned a 40 MW hydro electric generating unit in West Bengal’s Darjeeling district. This takes BHEL’s total hydel power commissioning to 770 MW in this fiscal, which is also the highest so far in a single fiscal year since 2005-06. The project is a run-of-the-river greenfield project on the Teesta river and is part of the 4x40 MW Teesta Low Dam Hydro Electric project. The other three units are also in advanced stage of execution. The second unit is expected to be commissioned soon, according to a BHEL statement. It is also executing the 3x40 MW Rammam Stage III hydro electric project of NTPC in West Bengal. The estimated annual energy generation of 720 million units from the Teesta project , being implemented by NHPC, will result in significant reduction of green-house gas emissions in West Bengal. The equipment has come from BHEL units in Bhopal, Jhansi, Rudrapur, Mumbai and Bengaluru and the work is being executed by BHEL’s eastern region setup. Bhel beats Chinese rivals to bag project in B'desh

BHel has beaten Chinese rivals to bag a contract for building $1.6-billion coal-fired power plant in Bangladesh, giving the Narendra Modi government's `Make in India' initiative a shot in the arm and writing down a reference for similar projects worldwide. Bhel has also beaten Indi a's L&T to emerge as the lowest bidder for the plant to be built at Khulna, some 450 km south-west of capital Dhaka.The contract would be the biggest overseas power project for Bhel, which does not have a major footprint abroad. BHEL despatches ceiling girder

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchi, on Saturday despatched the first main ceiling girder of its new fully bolted design for the 3x660 MW super critical steam generator being supplied by it to NTPC’s North Karanpura Thermal Power Station at Tandwa in Jharkhand. The massive consignment was flagged off by S. Gopinath, Executive Director, BHEL Tiruchi, at a function held at BHEL’s outsourcing partner Master Fab Engineering Industries at Devarayneri. According to a BHEL release, the ceiling girder assembly is the main load-bearing structure which supports the entire set of boiler pressure parts which are suspended from it. Each 660 MW boiler at North Karanpura project will have seven such main girders weighing 56 tonnes measuring 33 m in length, 4.5 m in height, flange thickness of 115 mm and are largest sizes supplied by BHEL so far. The structure will have three end girders and 109 cross beams. A total of 12,196 high tensile bolts in seven different sizes are used to bolt the structure together. BHEL funds for toilets in school

The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchi, would contribute Rs.15.2 lakhs for construction of toilets at the Government Aided Primary School at Asoor and Government Panchayat Union Primary School at Thuvakudi under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. The toilets will be constructed by Health and Welfare Services Trust of Lion’s Club of Tiruverumbur under the Swachh Bharat Mission. BHEL is also contributing Rs.10 lakh for the construction of toilets in Thuvakudi municipal area. BHEL commissions 270 MW unit of GVK power plant in Punjab

BHEL today said it has commissioned a 270 MW coal-based power generation unit at Goindwal Sahib Thermal Power Project of GVK Power & Infra Ltd in Tarn Taran district of Punjab. BHEL may be awarded 1,320 MW Bangladesh project by Feb end

BHEL has emerged as the lowest bidder for the 1,320 MW thermal power project worth USD 1.6 billion in Bangladesh and may be awarded the same by the end of this month. The tender for the project was floated by Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Private Ltd (BIFPCL), a 50:50 joint venture between NTPC and Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). “BHEL has emerged as the lowest bidder for the USD 1.6 billion thermal power project of 1,320 MW at Khulna in district Bagerhat of Bangladesh,” a source said. The BIFPCL is likely to give letter of award to BHEL by the end of this month. BHEL has outbid Larsen and Toubro and two Chinese companies to emerge as the lowest bidder for the project called ‘Maitree'(friendship). The joint venture company was incorporated on October 31, 2012. Initially, the JV wanted to allow companies with 500 MW operational unit overseas to bid for the project. In that case, BHEL would have been disqualified as it does not have an operating 500 MW unit overseas. However, the condition was removed later. After securing and implementing this project, no such condition would be an impediment for BHEL to bid for such projects abroad.
