BHEL commissions 40 mw hydro power unit in West Bengal

BHEL today said it has commissioned third unit of the 4x40 mw Teesta Low Dam hydroelectric project stage-IV in West Bengal. The final unit of the project is also in advanced stages of execution, Bharat Heavy Electricals LtdBSE 3.41 % (BHEL) said in a filing to BSE. A run-of-the-river greenfield project located in Darjeeling district on Teesta river, it is being set up by NHPCBSE 0.40 % (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation). Power generation from project will result in reduction of green-house gas emissions and will help in achieving a low carbon development path for the state as well as the nation, the statement said. The order for electrical and mechanical (E&M) works for four units of 40 mw each was placed on BHEL by NHPC. On 7th April 2016, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) reported Net Loss of Rs. 877 Crore for the financial year 2015-16 as per the then tentative/provisional Flash results. Subsequently on 27th May 2016, BHEL reported Net Loss of Rs. 913 Crore after Statutory Audit of the Company for the financial year 2015-16. The performance of BHEL during the year 2015-16 was impacted mainly due to continued subdued business environment, resulting in reduced level of operations and non-lifting of hold in many of the stranded projects of various customers in which the Company is engaged as a contractor/ supplier. Government issues advisories/ suggestions which may be policy related or specific issue related as and when required depending on the nature of the case and exigency. As a result of this, BHEL has pursued initiatives in diversification, eyeing new business opportunities emerging in defence, railways, water, solar and also in the conventional power sector. The Government has also appointed 2 Directors [Government Nominees] on the Board of BHEL who actively contribute in overseeing the Companys strategic direction, reviewing and monitoring corporate performance, ensuring regulatory compliance and Corporate Governance, and safeguarding the interests of the shareholders. Also, 5 Independent Directors having vast experience in the focus areas of BHEL, have been inducted in the Board of the company. Further, the performance of BHEL is reviewed by Department of Heavy Industry (DHI) on a regular basis. DHI also assists the Company in the achievement of growth plan through policy initiatives, suitable inter-ministerial interventions, and taking up specific issues from time to time. BHEL commissions two hydel units in Afghanistan

State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) today said that it has commissioned two units of 14 MW each at Salma Hydro Electric Project in Afghanistan. BHEL commissions 195 MW unit at Muzaffarpur plant

BHEL has commissioned another 195 MW unit at Muzaffarpur thermal power station in Bihar. This is the second 195 MW unit to be commissioned by BHEL at the 2x195 MW Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Station Stage-II of Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam Limited (KBUNL), a joint venture of NTPC and BSPGCL, the company said in a press release. According to the statement, the first 195 MW unit was commissioned in March, 2015. BHEL is the leading supplier of coal-based main plant equipment to NTPC and its joint ventures, with an over 80% share in their installed capacity. BHEL commissions 3 supercritical thermal units in Uttar Pradesh

BHEL BSE 0.25 % today announced the commissioning of all the 3 supercritical units of the 1980 MW coal-based Lalitpur Super Thermal Power Project in Uttar Pradesh within a span of just 85 days. Located in Lalitpur, Bundelkhand district, the 3x660 MW Lalitpur STPP has been developed by Lalitpur Power Generation Company Ltd , promoted by the Bajaj Hindusthan BSE -0.21 % group. "This has been achieved as a result of enhanced focus on project execution by way of innovative erection techniques and meticulous project management," the company said in statement. BHEL commissions 520 MW thermal power unit in AP

BHEL on Wednesday said it has commissioned another 520 MW coal-based power generating unit in Andhra Pradesh. The unit has been commissioned at the 2x520 MW Vizag thermal power project of Hinduja National Power Co Ltd (HNPCL), Visakhapatnam, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited said in a statement. Significantly, in Visakhapatnam district, four 500 MW thermal sets supplied and executed by BHEL are already in successful operation at Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station of NTPC, it said. The Vizag project has been executed by BHEL on engineering, procurement and construction basis. This project is located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal. Notably, this project uses single flow condenser and sea water as main cooling water, it added. Though the project was severely affected by the Hudhud cyclone in 2014 while it was under construction, all out efforts were made by BHEL and HNPCL resulting in curtailing delays and commissioning both units. BHEL has also recently secured prestigious orders for setting up two supercritical thermal power projects involving one unit each of the country's highest rating 800 MW sets, in Andhra Pradesh.
