Gasping BHEL loses Rs 150cr tender to competitor, sabotage suspected

In a major setback to crisis-ridden Bhopal unit of state-owned Bharat Heavy Electrical Ltd (BHEL), it lost Rs 154-cr tender to a private Indian company following an apparent sabotage. While sources allege BHEL's rate was leaked to its competitor, top officials of the company feigned ignorance. "The tender was floated by diesel locomotive works tenders (DLW) Varanasi a month ago for manufacturing 700 motors (TM4907) of Rs 20 lakh each. BHEL commissions 250 MW thermal unit in Maharashtra

BHEL today said it has commissioned a 250 MW thermal unit in Maharashtra . The unit has been commissioned at Parli Thermal Power Station ( TPS ), located in Beed district in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) said in a BSE filing. The project is owned by Maharashtra State Power Generation Company ( Mahagenco ). This is the eighth coal-based unit commissioned by BHEL at Parli TPS. BHEL to set up power project in Odisha

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has bagged an order valued at Rs.1,600 crore for setting up a coal-based thermal power project in Odisha in international competitive bidding. The 1 x 250 MW coal-based thermal unit will be set up at Rourkela Power Project on Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) basis. The order for the stage-III of the brownfield power project, located in Rourkela district of Odisha, has been placed on BHEL by NTPC-SAIL Power Company Private Limited (NSPCL), a joint venture of NTPC and SAIL, according to a BHEL press release. The key equipment for the contract will be manufactured at BHEL’s Tiruchi, Haridwar, Bhopal, Ranipet, Hyderabad, Jhansi, Tirumayam and Bengaluru plants while the company's Power Sector division would be responsible for civil works, erection and commissioning of the equipment. BHEL commissions 660 MW supercritical thermal plant in Nagpur

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on May 14, 2016 commissioned a 660 MW supercritical thermal unit at Mouda Super Thermal Power Station (STPS) at Mouda in Nagpur district of Maharashtra. The order for setting up two coal-based thermal units of 660 MW was placed with BHEL by NTPC Ltd. While the first unit has been commissioned, work on the other 660 MW unit is also in an advanced stage. Notably, BHEL has earlier set up two units of 500 MW each at Mouda STPS, which are in operation. In the supercritical segment, BHEL has successfully demonstrated its leadership status and technological capability in the manufacture and execution of 660 MW, 700 MW and 800 MW sets. Notably, the unit, commissioned by BHEL at Mouda, is the first to be commissioned out of the 11 units ordered under bulk tendering to different manufacturers. BHEL has a long-standing partnership with NTPC and has supplied over 30,000 MW of the coal-based power plants of NTPC and its JVs that account for around 80 percent of its coal-based installed capacity.
