BHEL commissions 250-mw thermal power plant in Gujarat

BHEL has commissioned a 250-mw coal-based thermal power plant in Gujarat. The unit has been commissioned at the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd's (GSECL) Sikka thermal power station (TPS) by Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), on EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) basis, the company said in a regulatory filing today. Sikka TPS is located near Jamnagar, an industrial town in Gujarat. Two units of 120 mw each, supplied and executed earlier by BHEL are already in operation at Sikka. Another 250 mw unit, presently under execution at Sikka TPS, is also in an advanced stage of commissioning, it added. BHEL commissions 2,400 MW OP Jindal thermal power project

Ttate-run power equipment maker BHEL today said it has fully commissioned 2,400 MW OP Jindal thermal power project in Chhattisgarh. "The unit has been commissioned at Jindal Power's (JPL) OP Jindal 4X600 thermal power plant located at Tamnar in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh," BHEL said in a statement. The previous three units were commissioned by BHEL in the last three months. The scope of work in the contract includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of steam turbines, generators and boilers, along with associated auxiliaries and electricals, besides controls & instrumentation and Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs). BHEL, Russian firm INTMA ink pact for power plant in Kazakhstan

BHEL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Russian company INTMA, to set up a gas-based power project in Kazakhstan. The MoU will further help BHEL in consolidating its presence in the CIS countries, the company said. "The two parties will endeavour to assist each other in the implementation of this MoU. For us, this is a great opportunity to expand our footprint in the CIS region," BHEL Chairman and Managing Director BP Rao said. Primarily engaged in manufacturing of power plant equipment like gas turbines, steam turbines, hydro turbines and boilers, BHEL has robust experience in construction of power plants in India and overseas, it said. BHEL commissions 600 MW thermal unit in Chhattisgarh

he public sector Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) today said it had successfully commissioned another 600 MW thermal power unit in Chhattisgarh. The unit was commissioned at Dainik Bhaskar Power Limited's (DBPL) 2x600 MW thermal power project located at Dhabra in Janjgir Champa district of Chhattisgarh. This is the second unit of this power project, commissioned by BHEL. The first 600 MW unit was commissioned by the company in 2014. BHEL’s provisional net profit declines 62% in FY15

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has reported an over 62 per cent dip in net profit for the just concluded fiscal, according to the flash results approved by its Board of Directors on Monday. “(The) profit impact is due to low volumes as a result of the retarding force of the last three years’ market shrinkage due to issues relating to coal linkages, fund constraints, land acquisition, clearances, etc,” the company said in a statement. Despite a dip in the profit and turnover, BHEL shares closed at ₹235 on the BSE on Monday, up 1.38 per cent over Friday’s closing price. The market expressed optimism as the company’s order book has grown. BHEL secured orders worth Rs. 30,814 crore during 2014-15, an increase of 10 per cent over last year from its diversified business segments covering both domestic and international markets. Orders in the power sector at ₹24,873 crore witnessed a 22 per cent rise. The company booked Rs. 720- crore orders for exports and ended the year with a total order book of over Rs.1.01 lakh crore. Madras HC orders BHEL to pay compensation to dismissed employee

The Madras High Court Bench here has directed the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) at Tiruchirappalli to pay a compensation of Rs three lakh to an employee, who was dismissed from service for unauthorised absence for 78 days in 1997. Justice V M Velumani, allowing a petition filed by the employee Vinothraj, said on Saturday that the punishment was not proportionate to the mistake committed by the employee and hence she was awarding compensation. Besides, the petitioner had attained superannuation age and could not be reinstated. Vinothraj had joined BHEL in 1977 as semi-skilled worker and got demoted on July 8,1983 on the charge of unauthorised absence for 111 days. The petitioner produced a medical certificate, but the employer accepted it only for 33 days of absence. Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has commissioned second 800 MW supercritical boiler at Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Plant (SDSTPP) at Krishnapatnam in Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh. Significantly, this is the second 800 MW rating and also the highest rating (800 MW) indigenous boiler to be commissioned in the country. The first 800 MW boiler was commissioned earlier by the company at the same project on August 28, 2014. The commissioning of the two 800 MW boilers at Krishnapatnam is an important development for the country seeking to achieve self reliance in the field of contemporary, state-of-the-art supercritical technology and demonstrates BHEL’s capability in the area of supercritical technology. Supercritical technology is expected to lower coal consumption and eco-friendly and efficient power generation. BHEL’s scope of work in the project envisaged is expected to comprise of manufacturing, supplying, erecting, testing and commissioning of the boilers and associated auxiliaries including electrostatic precipitators (ESPs). The key equipment for the project, has been manufactured by BHEL at its Trichy, Hyderabad, Ranipet and Bengaluru plant, construction of which was undertaken by the company's Power Sector - Southern Region. The company has so far contracted 36 sets of supercritical boilers out of which 4 boilers have been commissioned and the rest are in various stages of execution.
