What is your sense on BHEL and Petron Eng?
My theme is clearly to buy BHEL because it's at a steep discount to L&T. Although the business models are not comparable, traditionally we have seen that both BHEL and L&T move in tandem in terms of valuation multiples. There have been several times when BHEL quotes at a premium to L&T. Today BHEL is available at just about 15.5-16 times on FY12 basis, while L&T is roughly about 20-21 times and such a huge gap between the valuations of both these majors is unwarranted, and therefore, I expect this gap to be breached. Therefore, BHEL makes a very compelling buy for about 25-30% return over the next one year.

BHEL holds workshop on `Public Relations: Different Dimensions'
Publicity & Public Relations Department organized a workshop on "Public Relations : Different Dimensions" today at IFX Conference Hall BHEL Bhopal. The programme was inaugurated with lighting of lamp. Manoj Shrivastava, Commissioner, Bhopal was invited as Guest Lecturer in this programme. M K Dube, Executive Director, BHEL, Bhopal presided over the programme. R K Girdonia, GM (HR), all other GMs, DROs & other Sr Executives were in this programme.
Shrivastava shared his rich experience of Commissioner Public Relations in Government of M.P with the officials of BHEL. He stressed on collective decision making through which the employee/general public automatically buildup the image of organizations. He further said that the work of an organization should be seen & heard, in this PR Dept. plays an important role of image building. During the discussion he said that the role of PR Dept. is like a linking pin between general public and top management they works as a bridge between them by sharing information timely and accurately to both the side. He further said that in our organization we are does various work which may be a news from media's point of view and it is the duty of P&PR Dept. to share this information with the society through media. Shrivastava on the spot resolved the quires of the participants. It was an interactive workshop and all appreciated the programme.
On this occasion Dubey, in his presidential address said that public relations is the art and science of establishing relationship between an organization and its key audience. He further said that the business world today is extremely competitive. Companies need to have an edge that makes them stand out from the crowd. One more aspects of PR is effective communications.
Girdonia, in his presidential address said that BHEL officials present have both as technocrats and administrators whereas we expects more in the field of public relations as it is nowhere in the books.

BHEL, Titan Energy among 17 to put 20 MW solar PV units
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), through the Non-Conventional Energy Development Corporation (NEDCAP) of Andhra Pradesh has selected the developers to execute 20 MW of solar photo-voltaic units under the phase one of the National Solar Mission, wherein it was decided to award about 100 MW of capacity to the government and private entities.
Of the 345 applicants from the State, 17 developers, including solar panel makers, solar photovoltaic power generation companies, and Government and public establishments and undertakings, were shortlisted by NEDCAP.
About 4.25 MW of generation capacity has been allocated for solar panel manufacturers and another 4.2 MW to BHEL (1 MW), Hyderabad Metro Water Works (1MW), AP Genco (1MW), APIIC (1 MW) and Dr. MCR HRD Institute (200 kW).
Under the private sector, Titan Energy Systems (1MW), Photon Energy (1MW), Premier Solar, Solar Semiconductor and Andromeda were allotted about 750 kW each for execution.

BHEL net up 37%, bags ICWAI award again
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has been conferred the maximum number of ‘ICWAI National Awards for Excellence in Cost Management’, among public and private sector companies. Significantly, the company has won seven of these prestigious awards for 2009.
BHEL, in a statement, said that it has been awarded the recognition for the fifth successive year, having earlier won the awards for the years 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
The company achieved a significant growth of 21 per cent in its turnover at Rs 34,154 crore and recorded an all-time high net profit (PAT) of Rs 4,311 crore, as against Rs 3,138 crore in the year before - a growth of 37 per cent. The best cost management practices across the company enabled BHEL to reduce the material cost by 2.8 per cent in 2009-10.
With a highest-ever order book position of over Rs 1,44,000 crore, at the end of the fiscal, the company expects to achieve robust growth in 2010-11 and beyond. A final equity dividend of 123 per cent has been declared in addition to the interim equity dividend of 110 per cent paid earlier for fiscal 2009-10, maintaining the track record of paying dividends uninterruptedly since 1976-77.
BHEL has maintained its track record of earning profits uninterruptedly for over three decades without a break.
The company has established the capability to deliver 15,000 MW per annum and further augmentation to 20,000 MW per annum is underway.

BHEL Bhopal recommended for ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 certifications
Anupam Chopra and Sameer Saxena, the lead auditors, have recommended BHEL Bhopal unit for ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 certification after four day 5th to 8th July 2010 audit which concluded on Thursday here in BHEL Bhopal.
M K Dube, Executive Director, BHEL Bhopal, congratulated BHEL team for this achievement. All General Managers, Senior Executives, HSE officers were present on this occasion.
Speaking on this occasion Dube said that BHEL Bhopal Management provided all safety related equipment to all the employees. He assured the team that their suggestions will be positively implemented very soon.
