BHEL donates incinerators to schools, colleges

The second batch of electrical incinerators being distributed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) to around 60 schools and colleges in association with the Bharathidasan University were handed over to the institutions on Thursday. A.V. Krishnan, Executive Director, BHEL, Tiruchi; and V.M. Muthukumar, Vice Chancellor, Bharathidasan University, jointly handed over the incinerators meant for disposal of sanitary napkins to the institutions. BHEL is providing about Rs. 55 lakh under its corporate social responsibility programme and the Bharathidasan University is implementing the project under the auspices of Women Involved in Sanitation and Hygiene (WISH). Besides educating students on hygienic disposal of sanitary waste, National Service Scheme, and WISH volunteers educate the students on the health benefits. Mr. Krishnan said that the novel initiative was aimed at improving hygiene of girl students belonging to five districts including Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Karur, Ariyalur and Perambalur and stood as an example of industry academia joint initiative for a social cause. BHEL-Tiruchi pays Rs. 135.62 cr. towards central excise

The Commissionerate of Central Excise and Service Tax, Tiruchi, has announced that Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchi, Dalmia Cements (Bharat), Dalmiapuram, and ONGC Limited, Karaikal, were the top three central excise assessees during the financial year 2013-14. While BHEL, Tiruchi, had paid Rs.135.62 crore, Dalmia Cements (Bharat) and ONGC Limited had paid Rs.114.67 crore and Rs.101.79 crore respectively. Under the Service Tax assessees, BSNL (Cellular Mobile Services), Tiruchi, stood top with a payment of Rs.96.74 crore, and Karur Vysya Bank Limited, Karur, had paid Rs. 41.44 crore. The Karaikal Port Private Limited, Karaikal had paid Rs.19.46 crore. The top revenue paying assessees during 2013-14 fiscal would be honoured at the Central Excise Day 2015 celebrations to be organised by the Commissionerate here on February 24. This year has been declared by the Central Board of Excise and Customs as “The Year of Tax Payers Service”. NTPC BHEL JV signs MoU with APGenco

NTPC BHEL Power Projects Private Limited (NBPPL) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with APGenco for supply of spare parts for coal and ash handling plants and other equipment required by the Andhra Pradesh power utility’s thermal power plants. It may be recalled that the joint venture company, NBPPL, was set up by the two public sector Maharatna companies to establish a power plant components manufacturing facility at Mannavaram in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. BHEL commissions 270 MW Thermal unit in Maharashtra

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) announced that it commissioned another 270 MW coal based thermal power plant in Maharashtra. The unit was commissioned at RattanIndia Power (formerly Indiabulls Power) upcoming thermal power project located at village Nandgaonpeth in Amravati district of Maharashtra. This is the third 270 MW unit commissioned by BHEL (Q,N,C,F)* in Phase-1 of the project. The project is being executed in two phases, each of 1,350 MW. Notably, this in-house engineered 270 MW rating TG set establishes the engineering prowess of BHEL. The 210/250 MW sets of this rating class, supplied earlier by BHEL, today form the backbone of the Indian power sector and have been performing much above the national average as well as international benchmarks.
