BHEL Q4 profit seen down 57.5% at Rs 783 cr

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) will announce its fourth quarter earnings (on Tuesday), which are expected to be weak as its provisional numbers already indicated the same. Profit after tax is seen falling 57.5 percent year-on-year to Rs 783 crore during January-March quarter due to slowdown in execution. BHEL to donate solar power plants to nine schools

The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchi, would donate grid connected roof-top solar photo voltaic power plants worth Rs.1.5 crore to nine schools in and around its Kailasapuram Township under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. Inaugurating the first batch of systems in three schools at a function held at the at Boiler Plant Boys Higher Secondary School in the township on Tuesday, A. V. Krishnan, Executive Director, BHEL,Tiruchi, said the plants have been installed at the Boiler Plant Girls Higher Secondary School, Boiler Plant Boys Higher Secondary School and Saradha Middle School. The eco-friendly solar power plants would be installed in six more schools in the nearby areas. Education, employability training, health and infrastructure of under- privileged people would continue to be the focus areas of BHEL’s CSR activities. M.Palanivel, General Manager, Human Resources, BHEL Tiruchi, commended the efforts of teachers of Boiler Plant Girls Higher Secondary School in achieving cent per cent pass and Boiler Plant Boys Higher Secondary School for recording 94 per cent pass in the Plus Two public examinations. BHEL beats power capacity addition target by 19%

BHEL on Wednesday said that it surpassed its power generation capacity addition target for utilities by 19 percent in 2014-15. "Accelerating its project execution momentum as part of its six-point agenda for dynamic growth, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has surpassed the capacity addition target, set by the government for utility projects, by 19 percent ," BHEL said in a press statement here. According to the statement, BHEL has commissioned 8,230 MW of utility sets against the target of 6,914 MW for 2014-15. BHEL has also commissioned two boilers of 800 MW each during the year. In addition, sets with a cumulative of 2,000 MW have been synchronised and are ready for capacity addition. During 2014-15, BHEL commissioned 1,392 MW industrial sets and 319 MW of overseas projects, taking the overall capacity addition/synchronisation to 11,941 MW. Bharathidasan University selects BHEL, Bengaluru, for establishing two solar plants

Bharathidasan University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bharat Heavy Electronics-EDN, Bengaluru, for setting up two solar power plants, one on the main premises and the other on Khajamalai Campus on Friday. The main campus will get a 500-kWp Ground Mounted Grid Interactive Solar PV Power Plant with all possible provisions for increasing the power generation up to 1000 kWp. About 10 acres of land had been allotted for this purpose. Similarly, two numbers of 50 kWp (each) Rooftop Grid Interactive Solar PV Power Plant would be installed on Khajamalai campus, one on the roof terrace of BUTP building and the other over the building of the IECD. A purchase order to this effect was handed over V.M. Muthukumar, Vice-Chancellor, to P. Jayaprasad and B.N. Ramesh, Deputy General Managers of BHEL-EDN at the university on Friday. The BHEL has said that the solar power plants would be ready for commissioning in the first week of January 2016. Bharathidasan University to sign MoU with BHEL

Bharathidasan University is likely to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), for setting up solar energy park on its main premises. BHEL would take up all works such as design, engineering, optimization, manufacture of panels and construction. BHEL would also take care of maintenance for two years from the date of commissioning the plant. This initiative was not only to reduce the electricity charges but also to showcase the importance of tapping the naturally available energy with easy and cost-effective ways. The project would be completed within eight months. Once commissioned, there would be no need for the University to get power from other sources. BHEL is the largest engineering and manufacturing organization of its kind in the country. Bhel commissions GVK's hydro-power project in Uttarakhand

State-owned power equipment maker Bhel has commissioned GVK Group's 82.5 MW greenfield hydro electric project in Uttarakhand. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd said in a regulatory filing that it has "successfully commissioned the first unit of 82.5 Mw at the upcoming Shrinagar Hydro Electric Project (HEP) in Uttarakhand". "The greenfield hydro electric project consisting of four units of 82.5 Mw each is being set up by Alaknanda Hydro Power Corporation Ltd (GVK Group)," said the Bhel filing to the BSE. The project is located on the Alaknanda River (near the town of Shrinagar in Pauri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand), a major tributary of the Ganga. The project is designed to utilise the waters of River Alaknanda by way of a diversion dam. Bhel said power generation from Shrinagar HEP is likely to result in reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. BHEL gains 2.5%, commissions 195 MW thermal unit in Bihar

Shares of BHEL rose 2.5 percent intraday on Monday. The company has successfully commissioned a 195 MW thermal unit in Bihar. It says that this is the first 195 MW unit to be commissioned by BHEL at the 2X195 MW Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Station (TPS) Plant of Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam (KBUNL), a joint venture of NTPC and MSPGCL, Bihar. The second 195 MW is expected to be commissioned in FY2015-16. Earlier, in the first week of March 2015, a 660 MW supercritical thermal unit was commissioned by BHEL at Barh in Bihar. "BHEL's scope of work in Muzaffarpur project envisaged design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of stream turbines, generators and boilers along with associated auxiliaries and electricals, besides state-of-the-art Controls & Instrumentation (C&I) and Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs).
